Bee Bread & Dark Comb Honey   8oz (.7lb)

Honey is a thick amber sweet and sticky liquid and is a natural pure sugar.  It's made from flowering plant nectar and collected and stored by honeybees.  It contains probiotics, enzymes, vitamins and is rich in minerals and antioxidants and is prebiotic.  Honey also contains fewer calories than other types of sugars and syrups and only 65 calories per tablespoon.  Honey also contains vitamin B6, B5 (Pantothenic acid), amino acids, thiamin, ribolfavin, naicin.  Minerals found in honey include zinc, iron, calcium, magnesium, copper, manganese, potassium, sodium and phosphorus.  Honey has many medicinal properties and is anti-inflammatory, antioxidant and antibacterial.

About our Honey

Our raw honey is straight from the beehives and poured through a strainer (never filtered) to remove impurities like chunky beeswax and bee parts.  The pollen is never filtered out.  It is unpasteurized so it is never heated or processed in any way.  This way beneficial living microorganisms are never killed leaving it a powerful medicinal superfood source.  It is pure because it comes straight from the hive as is and nothing is added.

Because our honey is raw and straight from the hive, you can expect to find bits of pollen pieces and bits of honeycomb, bits of waxed capping, and tiny bits of propolis which all have significant nutritional benefits as well.  Jars will vary depending on the harvest.  Some honey harvests are from frames that store only nectar and no pollen while others are rich with pollen while other frames are loaded with bee bread and honey.  The taste and color of the honey also vary depending on the time of the year, what's blooming and what the bees are harvesting.

Dark Brood Honeycomb

What is Bee Bread & Dark Comb?

The honeybee's bee bread is a delicacy and a superfood!  It's often called, "ambrosia", AKA, "Food of the Gods", and it is exquisitely delightful to the taste buds and nose.   It has somewhat of a fruity apricot-like taste.  The aroma is sweet with a bold nutty-fruity scent that's also very calming.  It reminds me of my grandmother's homemade fruit cake she would make for the Christmas and New Year holiday seasons and I would say minus the rum of course but the fermentation sort of has a similar familiarity.

When you bite into a piece of bee bread honeycomb while still intact, the chunks of pollen immediately burst in your mouth and all you can say is, "wow!".  There are also numerous health benefits to eating honeycomb and yes you can swallow it -- it's okay or you can spit it out!  On bread, the texture of the honeycomb blends in and dissolves with the chewed bread.

It's the perfect superfood!   It is absolutely and incredibly delicious.  It's both a prebiotic and a probiotic.  My favorite way to eat it is on toasted croissant bread with vegan cream cheese, yum!

Our bee bread and dark comb honey are made by honeybees and taken straight from the hives, and the comb is crushed.   No processing is involved.   We remove everything from the frame and leave it all intact.  That's right, you get the honeycomb, bee bread, nectar, honey, waxed capping, and a little propolis as well.  All ingredients are very nutritious and healthy.

The honeycomb is dark because it is old brood comb that is loaded with potent nutrients.  Both the dark honeycomb and the bee pollen are considered delicacies.  This is a rare product and we have a limited supply.  Our price for this product is inexpensive compared to others and could be double or triple the cost and can go into the hundreds.  This is not the bee bread found on the Internet that is made by purchasing dehydrated bee pollen and adding it to honey then allowing it to ferment.  This is beebread straight from the bees.   It is not processed by man.  It is processed by honeybees and made with billions of freshly packed pollen and bee spit (enzymes), then the excess water is evaporated to the perfect level by the honeybees, nectar and/or honey are added on top, then the honeycomb cells are sealed with beeswax and left to ferment to perfection.
